Loch Leven Castle
Steeped in history Loch Leven Castle is linked with names such as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, but perhaps most famously with Mary Queen of Scots who was imprisoned here in 1567.

Kinross House and Gardens:
Designed by Sir William Bruce the house is still inhabited by the Montgomery family and while the house is closed to the public the gardens are open and make stunning viewing during the summer months.

Golf:
The hotel is ideally situated for a large range of golf courses to suit all tastes and standards.  Gleneagles, home of the 2012 Ryder Cup, St Andrews and Carnoustie are among the world renowned championship courses which are within easy driving distance of the hotel.

Fishing:
Loch Leven is famous for its brown and rainbow trout.  The season runs from April to October.  Other local alternatives for loch and river fishing are also available.

Cycling & Walking:
Scotlands heartland is a haven fir cyclists and walkers of all standards.  For the serious walker the Fife coastal path and the Cateran trail are just a coupl of the paths available to enjoy this areas stunning and contrasting scenery.  For a more leisurely stroll why not follow in the footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots around the banks of Loch Leven.  If its high peaks you are looking for you can head for the little discovered Angus Glens or magnificent highland perthshire.

Cyclists are also spoilt for choice, The National Cycle Network crosses the region with two routes: the Lochs & Glens Cycle Route and the Edinburgh to Aberdeen Cycle Route. The Fife Millennium Cycleways criss-cross Fife offering long distance routes, easy family cycling in Tentsmuir Forest and tougher mountain bike challenges in Pitmedden Forest. There are also more testing mountain bike challenges around Loch Rannoch, in Craigvinean Forest, by Dunkeld (north of Perth) and in the Angus Glens.

Birdwatching:

RSPB Vane Farm with several hides and an observation centre, is just a short drive away, the Scottish Natural Heritage hide on Loch Leven National Nature Reseve can be reached on foot from the hotel.  Vane Farm is part of the Loch Leven National Nature Reserve and it is to the Loch and surrounding wet grassland that pink-footed and greylag geese, whooper swans and thousands of dabbling ducks are attracted each winter. In summer, ospreys fish in the Loch and the grassland provides nesting sites for redshanks, snipe and lapwings.
